Ingredients
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1 cup cocoa
3 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups milk
Cream butter and sugar. Mix in remaining ingredients. Drop by heaping teaspoons onto ungreased sheet (I use a #40 scoop). Bake 7 to 8 minutes at 425 degrees. Do not overbake. Let cool. (Note: This is the recipe as written. I don't add the eggs to make it more like brownies instead of cake.)

How to prepare this recipe
Cook flour and milk until thick....stirring constantly. Cool. Cream together the shortening, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Beat well until very smooth and not grainy. Drop by table spoons onto cooled devil dogs (I use a #20 scoop). Top with another devil dog.
